On June 14, much to our horror we were ordered back to Morotai to make room for Yank P38 Lightnings on Sanga and left that day. Having arrived at three in the afternoon we put up our tents in less than an hour like veterans. After Noemfoor we did no use American tents with the central vertical pole anymore. We switched to the Aussie bush type with ‘A’ frame fly and inner tent supported by vertical poles at each end with the fly over a horizontal pole between the two verticals. We usually cut timber from the jungle for our poles.
