October 26, a dawn Alert. 40 kites attacked Kiriwina wrecked the RDF station. A couple of casualties. I don’t like these dawn Alerts. Why can’t they come when the moon is bright? We were pretty tired today. Started inspection on A19-3 our gang always seems to get that kite.

October 26, Tuesday, on one hours standby all day. Nothing eventuated. Usual daily routine. One letter form Mary, written on October 15, pretty poor mail service. Yvonne appears to have a sore leg. I most sincerely hope it is not serious.
